Diana's Little Book Store

There's more than one way to scan a cat!

I am often asked, "how can I learn to be a game programmer?" My answer is, unless you are lucky enough to be a student in a place where they offer good classes on the subject, you will need to teach yourself. The best way to do this is by collecting information, studying it, and then using what you have learned to write programs. The best sources of information I know of are web sites and books. You have already found the web sites. Now let's talk about books.

Books are the best way to teach yourself about new technology. If you are an experienced programmer, you probably already have a bookcase full of books. If you are new to programming, you are probably just getting started on your collection. Since books can be very expensive, you should try to concentrate on buying the books that will be most useful to you.

The books on this site are books which I have found useful, which my friends have recommended (or in some cases, written), and which I feel will help you in your programming career. These books are offered in cooperation with the Amazon online bookstore. Amazon offers books at discounted prices, and you can read reviews of them before you buy them.

I hope you will find this web site useful, and if you decide to buy any of these books from Amazon, then thank you. (Yes, they do give me a small cut on every sale.)

Once again, good luck with your game programming career, and I hope you will find this book list helpful.
