What is Fastgraph for Windows CE?
Fastgraph for Windows CE brings the power and flexibility of Fastgraph to Windows CE platforms, including Pocket PC, Handheld PC, or any custom-built Windows CE platform. Fastgraph CE uses the same application programming interface (API) as Fastgraph, making it possible to write applications that support both Windows desktop and CE platforms from the same set of source code files.

What are the differences between the Professional and Pocket PC editions?
The Pocket PC Edition of Fastgraph CE supports any Pocket PC device based on the Intel ARM, XScale, or compatible processors (it also supports the Pocket PC emulators supplied with the supported compilers). This means you can use the Pocket PC Edition to create executables that will run on any Pocket PC 2003 device, any Pocket PC 2002 device, or any Intel ARM-based Pocket PC 2000 device. The Pocket PC Edition does not include the Fastgraph CE source code.

The Professional Edition of Fastgraph CE supports all Windows CE devices and platforms. For each supported compiler, it includes pre-built libraries for each natively supported processor. The Professional Edition includes the complete Fastgraph CE source code, so you can create libraries for custom CE platforms, or tailor the source code to your specific needs.

Both editions include the Fastgraph/Fonts and Fastgraph/Image add-on products.

What compilers does Fastgraph CE work with?
Fastgraph CE supports eMbedded Visual C++ (version 3.0 and 4.0), Visual Basic .NET, and Visual C# .NET.

Does Fastgraph CE support the .NET Compact Framework?
Fastgraph CE supports the .NET Compact Framework through native code dynamic link libraries. Fastgraph handles the details of interfacing between your C# or VB.NET managed code and its own native code.

Does Fastgraph CE support desktop Windows development?
No, but a separate version of Fastgraph is available for Windows development. Please see the Windows FAQ for more information.

Do the Windows and Windows CE versions of Fastgraph include the same functions?
While the core API is virtually the same between Fastgraph CE and Fastgraph for Windows, the CE version does not include the Fastgraph for Windows functions specifically dealing with DirectX, clipboard support, mouse support, and printer support found in the Windows version, nor does it include Fastgraph legacy functions. Fastgraph CE includes a few functions specific to the CE environment. The Windows CE Supplementary Manual included with Fastgraph CE describes these differences in detail.

Does Fastgraph CE use virtual buffers?
Yes, Fastgraph CE uses the same virtual buffer (drawing surface) technology as Fastgraph for Windows. Virtual buffer depths of 8 bits per pixel (256 colors), 16 bits per pixel (high color), and 24 bits per pixel (true color) are supported in the CE version.

Does Fastgraph CE support the Windows CE Game API?
Not currently.

What are Fastgraph/Fonts and Fastgraph/Image?
Fastgraph/Fonts and Fastgraph/Image are Fastgraph add-on products that are included in both the Professional and Pocket PC editions of Fastgraph CE.

Fastgraph/Fonts makes it easy to add bitmapped font support to Fastgraph applications. It includes 40 font files in several point sizes and an interactive font editor.

Fastgraph/Image provides functions and utilities for managing resource files containing images and other files. While the product was designed to manage and display BMP, PCX, JPEG, AVI, FLI/FLC, and pixel run files stored in resource files, Fastgraph/Image can be used with any type of file, including bitmaps, text files, and Fastgraph/Fonts font files.

How much does Fastgraph CE cost?
The Fastgraph CE Pocket PC Edition is priced at $495, and the Professional Edition is priced at $1,995.

How does Fastgraph CE licensing work?
Both the Professional and Pocket PC editions are sold and licensed on a per-developer basis. Additional licenses are available for either edition for $495 per additional developer.

What about royalties?
As with all our products, there are no royalties or run-time fees of any kind for distributing applications created with Fastgraph CE.

Is source code available?
The Fastgraph CE Professional Edition includes full source code.

Can I upgrade from the Pocket PC Edition to the Professional Edition?
Yes, you can apply the full purchase price of the Pocket PC Edition toward the purchase of the Professional Edition at any time.

What about manuals?
Fastgraph CE comes with a detailed User's Guide (698 pages) and Reference Manual (445 pages) in both Adobe Acrobat (PDF) and Windows help formats. Fastgraph CE also includes a Windows CE Supplementary Manual (51 pages) that introduces the CE product and describes the differences between the Windows and Windows CE versions.

What is your technical support policy?
We have always offered free technical support on Fastgraph products. Technical support is available by voice, fax, and email. Please note that while we are glad to provide Fastgraph technical support, we do not have the resources to provide general Windows or Windows CE programming help.
